'ANTI-DUST MITE'
REMOVABLE and MACHINE WASHABLE "HERCULES" HEALTH FABRIC ZIP-OFF
'Space-Age' Cover is the "ULTIMATE PROTECTION" for your air bed mattress ! |
Yes, Cotton Damask Fabric Mattress Coverings are
Soft and Beautiful, but... The impurities that cling to cotton fibers are a natural BREEDING GROUND for
some species of FUNGUS (the MAIN CAUSE of ALLERGIES in people today).
Some species of fungus are PATHOGENIC and can prove fatal in certain
circumstances - besides the more normal allergies and sickness caused by
bedding.
If your insomnia or "dust mite
allergy driven" sleep disorders are caused by sleeping on the wrong kind of
mattress maybe it's time to consider the benefits of sleeping on an adjustable
air bed mattress that contains a GENEROUSLY THICK and also is PROTECTED inside
our "exclusive Hercules ANTI dust mites and waterproof breathable and washable"
zippered PROTECTIVE COVER !
The problem with FUNGAL
INFESTATION IN A MATTRESS being so easy to start is the moisture and dead
skin cells PLUS the IMPURITIES in regular Cotton Damask Ticking. Our MAGICLOUD
air mattress comes with a removable zip-off dry cleanable pillowtop that is
separate from the memory foam to prevent dry cleaner chemicals from damaging the
memory foam padding.
Mattresses include the "EXCLUSIVE" HERCULES 'Space-Age' HEALTH FABRIC Visco Memory Foam Cover System.
This PROTECTS and REINFORCES your
airbed mattress for many years of
healthy sleep. Protect your memory foam from damage. Prevent Dust Mites.
Washable, breathable and waterproof zip-on cover. PROTECT YOUR MATTRESS
INVESTMENT!!! |
TOP MATTRESS DUST MITE TIPS:
It is essential to cover the mattress, pillows and duvet (comforter) and to launder regularly all uncovered items, preferably at 60 degrees C. Without this, it seems, you will not succeed. The ideal is to get a new bed or at least
mattress, pillow and duvet (comforter) and cover these with the special covers before they are ever used. Then they will not merely stop dust moving from
mattress to lungs, but will prevent harmful dust buildup in the first place
because the special PURIFICATION of the fabric stops dust mites
from feeding and making a home in your mattress.
Vacuum or wipe the dust-proof bedding covers regularly, i.e. follow the manufacturer's instructions. Wash according to manufacturer's instructions.
CRITICAL NOTE:
Make sure your air bed's mattress pillowtop can be completely removed
for future DRY-CLEANING. It MUST NOT have a
"PERMANENTLY built-in visco memory foam layer
right in the pillowtop"
because dry cleaner chemicals can DISSOLVE
the MEMORY FOAM and RUIN IT FOREVER!!! |
DON'T LET THESE BED
BUGS RAISE THEIR FAMILY IN YOUR FAMILY'S BED
Few people nowadays have not seen a television
program about house dust mites. Newspapers are full of advertisements for things which are supposed to help you get rid of them and the nasty dust they leave all over your house.
House dust mites are tiny (up to 0.3 mm) animals related to ticks and spiders and live in
house dust. There is not a house without them, but some houses contain huge numbers and other houses contain almost none. This does not only depend on cleanliness, but depends very much on the amount of moisture in the house; dry houses in very cold climates or on high mountains have few mites, but houses in temperate climates and normal altitudes have more.
|
House dust mites eat the dust which comes from our
flaking skin (dander) all the time.
They leave droppings everywhere they go. Their droppings contain left-over enzymes which the mites use to digest the skin dust. It is these enzymes which are the most important part of mite dust in causing asthma and other allergic diseases.
In fact, house dust mites and their droppings are the most important cause of asthma worldwide.
|
There is ample proof that living in surroundings with little or no mite dust improves or cures asthma in those people whose asthma is caused by it.
University students with mite-allergic asthma
should have special consideration regarding accommodation . For example, they
should be permitted to live in main college accommodation rather than be forced
to share low standard shared student housing. They could either buy new mattresses
or mattresses with removable and cleanable pillowtop covers every year, these
being covered with dust mite control covers.
Although house dust mites feed on skin dust, an expert quoted by the manufacturer claims that they also need a microscopic fungus which grows in house dust. The fungus is called by the latin name Aspergillus repens and can also not grow without enough moisture in the air. The arguments for a house which is dry to a healthy level seem to be adding up.

Identification:
House dust mites, due to their very small size (250 to 300 microns in
length) and translucent bodies, are not visible to the unaided eye. For
accurate identification, one needs at least 10X magnification. The adult
mite's cuticle (covering) has simple striations that can be seen from
both the dorsal (top) view and from the ventral
(bottom) view. The ventral view of the house dust mite reveals long
setae (hairs) extending from the outer margins of the body and shorter
setae on the rest of the body. Through the microscope, one will see many
oval-shaped mites scuttling around and over one another. There are eight
hairy legs, no eyes, no antennae, a mouthpart group in front of the body
(resembles head) and a tough, translucent shell, giving a "fearsome
appearance."
Biology
and Life Cycle
Adult females lay up to 40 to 80 eggs singly or in small groups of three
to five. After eggs hatch, a six-legged larva emerges. After the first
molt, an eight-legged nymph appears. After two nymphal stages occur, an
eight-legged adult emerges. The life cycle from egg to adult is about
one month with the adult living an additional one to three months.
The diet is varied with the primary food source, consisting of dander
(skin scales) from humans is usually provided at night as we sleep. The
human body naturally sheds dead skin combined with body oils and sweat
into mattresses throughout the night.
One of the major limiting factors in mite survival and population
development is the availability of water for absorption. Highest mite
densities occur in the humid summer months and lowest in drier winter
periods. Dust mite populations are highest in humid regions and lowest
in areas of high altitude and/or dry climates.
Due to the large quantity of skin scales sloughed off daily by humans,
mites have an abundant food supply. Dust mite antigen levels are
measured in bed dust, floor dust, and room air samples. Detection in
room air was best during cleaning and bed-making activities.
Detection:
House dust mite presence is often suspected before they are actually
seen and accurately identified. Requests for control often come from
individuals who have been diagnosed by medical personnel as allergic to
the house dust mite or the allergens produced.
The presence of house dust mites can be confirmed microscopically which
requires collecting samples from mattresses, couches or carpets. Also,
it requires the use of a microscope with sufficient magnification and
the technical ability to recognize house dust mites under the
microscope. In general practice, testing is unnecessary. dust mites are
extremely common in household environments. They virtually always show
up in a test, so testing just adds expense. A better question than "are
dust mites present?" is "How can I control or remove them?"

MORE ABOUT DUST MITE-PROOF BEDDING COVERS:
They are essential for mite control. There are quite a number of kinds. Good ones are expensive. To be effective and good value they must be:
Permeable to water vapor. Otherwise sweat will accumulate next to the skin. Dust
Mites LOVE dead skin and moisture for a home to breed a colony. Good quality
cotton damask fabric coverings and breathable cashmere, silk or wool blends as a
pillowtop over non-allergenic VISCO Memory Foam
Comfortable to sleep on. Soft enough and not noisy when you turn over in bed.
A memory foam mattress cover on your
expensive bed should be a lot more than a sheet of terry cloth cotton zippered
on.
